Challenges

Revamping the core functionality of the existing platform using modern technologies while enhancing the user experience. Key challenges included:

  • Ensuring mobile responsiveness for seamless access across devices.
  • Implementing cached sessions to retain previous session data for user convenience.
  • Enabling asynchronous updates to eliminate the need for manual refreshing, ensuring users always have the most up-to-date information.
  • Integrating with the complex third-party service Videcom.

UX Process

The ORIL team focused on enhancing the platform by implementing mobile responsiveness, and asynchronous updates. Our process included detailed planning, user flow creation, and optimizing the interface for pilots, dispatchers, and admins. We prioritized intuitive navigation and user-friendly interactions to ensure the system met the needs of all users.

UI Process

ORIL’s UI design team worked with the client to create a clear, intuitive interface that addressed mobile usability and redundant functions. The final design emphasized simplicity and accessibility, making complex features easy to navigate across devices.

Main Features

01
Cached Sessions
Retains previous session data, allowing users to resume tasks seamlessly without re-entering information. This feature enhances convenience for all roles, including Admin, Pilot/Concierge, Scheduled Services, and Dispatch/Scheduling.
02
Asynchronous Updates
Enables real-time data transfer, ensuring that all users have the most up-to-date information without needing to refresh manually. This feature is especially crucial for time-sensitive tasks connected with Dispatch and Scheduling.
03
Role-Based Access
Provides different user interfaces and functionalities based on the user's role (Admin, Pilot/Concierge, Scheduled Services, Dispatch/Scheduling). Each role has tailored access to relevant features, such as flight scheduling, passenger manifests, and user management.
04
Flight Management
Offers a comprehensive calendar view of flights with real-time updates, color-coded to indicate active, delayed, or canceled flights. This feature is accessible to Dispatch, Scheduling, and other relevant roles, ensuring smooth operations and efficient scheduling.
05
Passenger Manifest
Allows Admin, Pilots, Concierge, and Scheduled Services to filter flights by passengers, origin, tail number, and destination. It includes essential features such as checking in passengers for flights and sending SMS notifications through the integrated DialPad service. The manifest also displays key flight details, including departure and arrival times, and passenger counts, helping Dispatch and Scheduling manage operations smoothly.
06
User Management
Allows Admins to create, edit, and manage user accounts with role-based permissions. This ensures that only authorized personnel can access specific features and information within the system.

Result

The ORIL team replicated the core functionality of the existing platform, integrating advanced features like asynchronous updates and improved mobile responsiveness. The updated system has been successfully rolled out to pilots and is now in active use, facilitating smooth and efficient operations.
